The full form of FSSAI is Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.FSSAI is an organization in which the food business in India is monitored and governed. Under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, FSSAI is established


Why Is Fssai Registration Required

FSSAI Registration or License must be compulsorily obtained by every food a business operator involved in the manufacturing, processing, storage distribution and sale of food products.

FSSAI registration is a 14-digit registration or a license number which gives details about the assembling state, producer’s permit, and also is printed on all the food packages.

Following are the kinds of food license:-

1.     Central License

2.     State License

3.     Basic Registration

Why Food Industry Needs A Fssai License:-

·        FSSAI license gives an added advantage of an increase in the customer base with the increase of the healthy food items.

·        FSSAI license is needed because one can even officially open a business. Food license cost is lesser than what one has to pay for as the penalties if one is caught.

·        If the license holders use the FSSAI logo in the menu card or in his promotional business advertisement then it gives an edge over the other FBOs who are not having FSSAI license.

·        In order to secure loan and funding for business expansion, the license is very helpful.

Documents Required For Obtaining Central License

1.     Form B duly completed and signed

2.     Plan of the processing unit showing the dimensions and operation-wise area allocation    

3.     List of Directors/ Partners/ Proprietor with address, contact details, and photo ID

4.     Name and list of equipment and machinery used with the number and installed capacity

5.     List of food category to be manufactured

6.     Authority letter from manufacturer nominated a responsible person name and address

7.     Analysis report of water to be used in the process to confirm the portability

8.     Recall plan wherever applicable

9.     Ministry of Commerce Certificate for 100% EOU

10.            NOC/PA document issued by FSSAI

11.            IE code document issued by DGFT

12.            Form IX

13.            Certificate from Ministry of Tourism   

14.            Proof of possession of premises

15.            Partnership deed/ affidavit of proprietorship

16.            NOC and copy of License is needed from the manufacturer

17.            Food safety management system plan or certificate

18.            NOC from the municipality or local body

19.            Supporting document are needed for proof of turnover  and transportation

20.            Declaration form

Fees For Obtaining Central License

Fees for obtaining New License/Renewal of License/Modification of License: Rs.7500.

Fees for obtaining a Duplicate License: Rs.10

Documents Required For Obtaining State License

1.     Form B duly completed and signed

2.     Plan of the processing unit showing the dimensions and operation-wise area allocation    

3.     List of Directors/ Partners/ Proprietor with address, contact details, and photo ID

4.     Name and list of equipment and machinery used with the number and installed capacity

5.     List of food category to be manufactured

6.     Authority letter from the manufacturer nominated a responsible person name and address

7.     Analysis report of water to be used in the process to confirm the portability

8.     Proof of possession of premises

9.     Partnership deed/ affidavit of proprietorship

10.                        NOC and copy of the License from the manufacturer

11.                        Certificate copy is required under Coop Act 1861/Multi state Coop Act 2002

12.                        Food safety management system plan or certificate

Fees For Obtaining State License

Hotels having up to 4 Stars: Rs.5000.

Restaurants/CafĂ©/Canteens/Other FBO: Rs.2000 

Production units having production below 1 MT and in the case of milk unit ranging from 2.5 MT to 500 MT per annum: Rs.3000 Production units having production exceeding 1 MT and in case of milk unit ranging from 501 MT to 2500 MT per annum: Rs.5000.
